Recently, in response to prominent issues such as illegal assembly and modification of electric bicycles and batteries that pose a threat to public safety, under the unified deployment of the national electric bicycle safety hazard rectification work team, joint inspections and law enforcement have been carried out in various regions to resolutely ensure the quality and safety of electric bicycles and batteries from the source.


A joint inspection team composed of market supervision, public security, fire protection and other departments from various regions will go deep into electric bicycle operation outlets and repair shops, focusing on investigating and punishing the sale of electric bicycle products that do not comply with regulatory standards by operation outlets. The inspection will examine the inconsistency between the information on the electric bicycle qualification certificates, mandatory product certifications and actual sales; Investigate and punish illegal and irregular behaviors such as unauthorized modification of original electrical components, removal and modification of speed limits, installation of external battery racks, modification of battery trays, and replacement of large capacity batteries by repair shops. The inspectors carried out safety warning propaganda and education on site to regulate the business behavior of merchants in response to the problems found during the inspection.


During this joint inspection, a total of 45 illegal recycling and secondary assembly battery "black workshops" were discovered, 46 illegal modification and counterfeiting dens were destroyed, 1809 illegally modified vehicles and more than 445 batteries were seized from illegal modification and counterfeiting dens, and 26 suspected criminal clues were handed over to the public security organs.
