On January 19, 2024, the China International Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Association) held its fifth and third member conference at the Xijiao Hotel in Beijing. More than 300 association leaders, executive directors, directors, and members attended the conference, with Vice President Xu Jun presiding over the conference.
Mr. Xu Yanhao, member of the CPPCC National Committee, member of the Standing Committee, deputy director of the Education, Science, Health and Sports Committee, former deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group and secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, and Mr. Lv Xinkui, former vice minister of the Ministry of Information Industry of China, former general manager of China Electronics Technology Group, and founder of China's Internet industry, attended the meeting and delivered a congratulatory speech.
In his congratulatory speech, Director Xu Yanhao congratulated the China International Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology on its achievements in the past year and the convening of the conference. He also comprehensively analyzed the development trend of international scientific and technological innovation, deeply analyzed the new situation of scientific and technological innovation in China, as well as the opportunities and challenges it faces. He also wished the Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology better results in the new year under the leadership of the association leaders and the joint efforts of all members.
Vice Minister Lv Xinkui recalled more than 30 years of cooperation and exchanges with the Science and Technology Promotion Association, expressed warm greetings to all new and old friends of the Association, and also introduced in depth the latest developments in China's information industry and the significant progress made in the past 10 years. A large number of core technologies represented by integrated circuits, key software, cloud services, and artificial intelligence have been systematically developed and have formed strong international competitiveness in some fields. In the future, we also hope that the Science and Technology Promotion Association can leverage the resource advantages of academicians and experts to better promote the development of China's information industry.
At the meeting, President Duan Yiyi made a summary of the work of the China International Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology in 2023 and its 2024 work plan. He summarized the specific work of the Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology in 2023 from seven aspects, including theme education activities, branch construction, rural revitalization assistance, group standard work, social awards and public welfare fund cooperation, national patent award organization recommendation, and the construction of the association's own office space. He introduced the achievements of a series of scientific and technological exchange activities such as the 2nd World Frontier Technology Conference, the 17th Summit Forum and Exhibition on Certificates, Cards, Tickets and Signature, the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Development, the 2023 Forbidden City International Pharmacist Conference, and reviewed the "Qingxin Plan", stratospheric airship development, parent fund industry development, drug food homologous innovation, Work on science, technology, economic and trade exchanges between China and Arab countries. Fully reported the financial income and expenditure of the Science and Technology Promotion Association in 2023. In the work deployment for 2024, President Duan emphasized the need to comprehensively complete various tasks arranged by the Party and the state, adhere to the construction of long-term mechanisms for theme education, actively plan a series of activities, strive to expand international cooperation and exchanges, continue to do a good job in standardization reform, actively strive for and do a good job in the "Innovation Achievement Award" and "International Cooperation Award" work, and comprehensively promote the next step of the work of the Science and Technology Promotion Association.
The conference invited Wu Hequan, former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and academician of the CAE Member, to give a special report. Dean Wu introduced the development history, current status, and future application prospects of artificial intelligence in various industries. The enormous industrial demand and scale in the future have been analyzed in depth, highlighting the impact and opportunities that artificial intelligence brings to various industries.
At the general meeting of members, the "Management Measures for Foreign Affairs of the China International Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology" and the "Confidentiality Work System of the China International Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology" were reviewed and approved, and 24 directors including Cao Songjie and Chen Dong were elected. During this period, the fifth and third council meetings of the Science Promotion Association were held, and the fifth executive council member, Ban Shoule and Shi Yanjun, were elected; The proposal to add 14 branch offices, including the Financial Services Working Committee, the Energy Science and Technology Innovation Working Committee, and the "Two Bombs and One Satellite" Spirit Working Committee, and to abolish 9 branch offices has been reviewed and approved. At the fourth executive council meeting of the fifth session of the Science and Technology Promotion Association, the Secretariat of the Association approved the proposal to adjust the salary and benefits of staff.
On the afternoon of January 19, 2024, Vice President Zhang Shaochun and Secretary General presided over a branch exchange activity. Yu Guochao, Director of the Pharmaceutical Service Industry Branch, Duan Xiangming, Director of the Smart City Rail Transit Professional Committee, Ban Shoule, Director of the Smart Urban and Rural Branch, Tian Yao, Director of the Human Settlements Think Tank Working Committee and the Metaverse Professional Committee, and others gave special exchange reports.
