On July 12th local time, during the 65th session of the General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the WIPO Global Awards ceremony was held in Geneva, Switzerland. WIPO Director General Deng Hongsen presented awards to representatives of nine award-winning companies in recognition of their positive impact on promoting global technological progress through technological innovation and the application of intellectual property rights, while supporting economic growth. This year, more than 660 small and medium-sized enterprises and startups from 107 countries participated in the WIPO Global Award, with 4 Chinese companies among the 25 shortlisted. Among the 9 winning companies, Beijing Zhiyu Medical Technology Co., Ltd. from China was listed. The other 8 enterprises are from Argentina, Kenya, South Korea, Kuwait, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand and Türkiye.
The WIPO Global Prize, established in 2022, is an award specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises and startups in various industries, aiming to recognize businesses and individuals who have made contributions to global economic, social, and cultural progress. Chinese companies have won awards for three consecutive years, and their innovation strength has been fully recognized.
